Gabrek 1929. has always been synonymous with a good and plentiful meal and that tradition hasn't faded with time. It is located beneath the walls of the Old Town, opposite the old Chapel of St. Michael and alongside the brook, close to the large, charming Samobor park-promenade Vugrinščak.
Gabrek 1929., as the name implies, opened its doors in 1929. The establishment first started as a butcher shop. Later on, drinks were offered to patrons, and then warm dishes. Over the span of a few years, Gabrek 1929 became a complete dining facility. Today, the fourth generation of family is running the restaurant and still retains the family tradition of great value and quality. The restaurant has continued its tradition of top gastronomic offering to this day. In its 82 year history, the restaurant was visited by many celebrities and stars like Zsa Zsa Gabor, Steven Spielberg and Pierce Brosnan. August Senoa and Tin Ujevic also used to dine here.
Taste the delightful and delicious meals prepared according to ancestral recipes: soup made from wild mushrooms, veal specialties, like veal knuckle, stuffed breast of veal or venison and wild boar served with homemade wines and wines from Zagreb County. All the dishes are made with home-made ingredients and are well selected. The menu favors seasonal meals. In the winter, we offer sausages, blood and baking sausages, leg of pork, usually with home-made portugizac wine. We also offer mushrooms daily picked in the woods. That's why mushroom fans come to Gabrek's for excellent mushroom specialties. When we're talking about mushrooms, we have to mention our famous mushroom soup.
